Position Details

Locus Environmental (Locus) has an immediate opening for a full-time environmental professional in our sustainability services group. The position entails providing sustainability services under state greenhouse gas reporting programs, state low carbon (clean) fuels reporting and crediting programs, and corporate climate data disclosure programs. This is a challenging position that requires learning and applying a breadth of state carbon regulations, evaluating or building models of facility energy inputs and carbon emissions under state regulations, preparing transactions and fuel pathway compliance reports and credit balances, and providing effective direct communication with colleagues, regulators, and clients. This position involves a variety of projects and opportunities for growth as you contribute to and explore the exciting and rapidly growing sustainability market space. Based on the interest and skills of the candidate, this position may additionally entail participation in sustainability program management including interpretation of scope requirements, proposal preparation, conflict of interest tracking and reporting, as well as business development, sales, and marketing in the sustainability space.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for participation in the growing and dynamic decarbonization sector with prior exposure to greenhouse gas emissions reporting, corporate climate disclosure, cap-and-trade compliance, low carbon fuels modeling, life cycle analysis, fuel transactions reporting, credit accounting, or related areas. The candidate will have an educational background in the sciences or environmental engineering and some prior work experience providing sustainability or related services in the carbon sector. Lead Verifier accreditation under the California Air Resources Board’s Greenhouse Gas (GHG) program is a plus but not a requirement.

Requirements

  • BS in Engineering, Environmental Science, or other Sciences
  • 2+ years of experience in sustainability, greenhouse gas, climate, or related fields
  • US work authorization is required

Desired Qualifications

Mid or Senior Level Environmental Engineer (P3)

Overview

Locus Environmental is seeking a full-time Mid-Level Environmental Engineer (5 to 10 years of experience) to join our Santa Clara, CA office. The position will lead and support projects involving investigation, monitoring, remediation, and operations and maintenance (O&M) of treatment systems. Responsibilities include field and technical work, data analysis and reporting, and project management. This role offers mentorship from senior staff and opportunities to guide junior staff. Field work will be primarily in Santa Clara County with occasional travel to regional project sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform and oversee operations O&M of remediation systems, including groundwater treatment systems
  • Conduct and supervise routine extraction and monitoring well maintenance
  • Oversees and conducts groundwater monitoring, indoor air sampling, and mitigation system installation
  • Design and implement treatability studies and treatment systems
  • Prepare and follow work plans, HASPs, and SOPs
  • Coordinates with laboratories, drillers, vendors and subcontractors
  • Conducts and leads analytical tasks such as field mapping, preparing tables, and charts using software reporting tools
  • Evaluates and interprets field and sampling results, develops conclusions and recommends remedial measures in written reports
  • Communicates with clients and stakeholders

Required Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Civil/Environmental Engineering, Geology, or related field
  • At least 5 years of environmental remediation experience, with direct involvement in groundwater treatment system O&M and environmental monitoring
  • Self-starter with good communication and writing skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Attention to details and strong time management capabilities
  • Ability to and willingness to travel to projects sites within Santa Clara County and occasionally outside the area.

Desirable Qualifications

  • P.E. or P.G in California or ability to obtain within one year, preferred
  • MS with demonstrated writing skills such as a thesis
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER training, preferred
  • Experience with ArcGIS and/or CAD software
  • Experience with developing construction plans

Environmental Field Technician (P9)

Position Details

Immediate opening for a full-time Environmental Field Technician. This on-site position involves field work including collection of environmental samples, maintenance of field equipment, coordination with engineers and contractors, and documentation of activities. Hands on outdoor work and the ability to troubleshoot equipment in a timely manner is required. Local candidates are preferred.

Accredited CARB GHG Lead Verifier (P8)

Position Details

Immediate opening for a full-time Accredited Lead Verifier under the California Air Resources Board’s Greenhouse Gas (GHG) program. Additional accreditation under CARB’s Low Carbon Fuel Standard and/or Oregon’s GHG and/or Clean Fuels Programs and/or Washington GHG Program is beneficial. This is a challenging position that requires knowledge and understanding of the regulations, and effective direct communication with clients, regulators, and colleagues. The ideal candidate will work independently to research regulatory requirements, review report content, and attest to the validity of GHG/LCFS/CFP reports and applications submitted to the State Agencies.
Travel is required and will vary depending on regulatory requirements and client locations.
In addition, the successful candidate will be a team member contributing to our established environmental consulting practice, which may include consulting services in the GHG/LCFS space, environmental investigation, remediation, and field work.

Project/Senior Field Engineer Or Senior Technician (P7)

Position Details

Immediate opening for a full-time, mid or senior level, Environmental Field Engineer with 5 or more years of experience.  Seasoned field technicians with multiple years’ experience in the environmental remediation field will also be considered. The ideal candidate will assume responsibilities for field services, field engineering, and automation including operating and maintaining groundwater treatment systems and monitoring networks. This position includes participating in and guiding sampling efforts, providing technical input, and assisting with designs. Hands on field work and the ability to troubleshoot equipment in a timely manner is required. Travel to job sites in Santa Clara county is required. Local candidates are preferred.
